Leatherwork
I fell into leatherwork when I discovered a book on braiding rawhide. It took about 2 years before I purchased some leather, and that was not rawhide! I played around doing tooling and carving leather, and discovered I liked the process of working with veg tan. Knife sheaths and possibles pouches then followed and since then I have begun braiding both tanned and rawhide leather, learning the various braiding techniques and some fancy knotwork. The discovery of Native American beadwork has lead to experimentation with couched beadwork combined with leather carving to make beautiful items. It is hard on the hands and ligaments, so it is done sparingly and only occasionally.
